Jody Cassell is a Teaching Artist in dance, dancing storyteller and children’s author of the book Where’s Leon? a story created to be danced. She earned a Master of Fine Arts in Dance from New York University School of the Arts, New York, New York and a Master of Science in Dance/movement Therapy from Hunter College of the City University of New York, New York. The Wolf Trap Institute for Early Learning Through the Arts in Vienna, Virginia has trained her as a Master Artist for their professional development program. She specializes in the integration of curriculum and dance/creative movement in classroom, and professional development settings. Additionally, she also leads workshops for family experiences in libraries and art museums to make stories and works of art come alive through creative movement. Creativity is her passion. She also designs small sculptures called Spirit Women and Spirits Among Us. These are celebrations of the abundance of life and are constructed from found, recycled or self created objects.
